New arrivals - Mega parcel part 1 - Parodius overload

I picked up a massive parcel full of joy today. Too much for one post, here's part one; a stack of parodius goodness.

Parodius Da!

Gukojuo Parodius with original arts (matching serials)

Sexy Parodius

I'm really looking forward to getting my JAMMA > MVS adapter back from loan so I can play them. I missed Sexy Parodius when I sold my last copy (be necessity really rather than anything else). I'd enjoyed it a lot. Really looking forward to giving the rest of the series a proper try. I have a couple of posts worth of other stuff to pop up when I get a bit more time. It was a good day!

New arrivals - brave blade and super puzzle fighter II X

I got a couple more parcels in the post at the back end of last week. Firstly, a brave blade pcb arrived from the US. I'd been looking for one for a little while, I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into it properly. It's really different from all the other games they developed and the game play will take a little getting used to. I've got all the raizing shooties on pcb now. In alphabetical order, the 9 games are:
1944
armed police batrider
battle bakraid
battle garrega
brave blade
great mahou daisakusen / dimahoo
mahou daisakusen / sorcer striker
shippu mahou daisakusen / kingdom grand prix
soukyugurentai / terra diver

Also in the post was a copy of the awesome CPS2 puzzle game, super puzzle fighter II X. This is a yellow cased rental version which is compatible with all region motherboards. I've seen another of these rental in the flesh before although they come up for sale reasonably often. Pretty cool stuff.

New arrival - Magical drop pcb

The two sequels to this game are probably my favourite MVS games, so I was really happy to get hold of this. I imported it from the US, so was expecting it to be the 'Chain Reaction' US version; it booting as the JP version was a very happy surprise. It's in mint condition too.

New arrival - MVS

It's been a while since I got any new MVS stuff. Today's arrival is quiz king of fighters; a nice clean cart and a mini marquee.

Now these have arrived I have 16 games and 28 mini marquees left to get hold of.

New arrival - V-V

It's been a while since I've got a new game since money is a little tight and I have loads of other stuff to be getting on with. Today I got this in the post though. I got it as my end of a trade; out goes R Type Leo, with V-V replacing it. I've only had a chance to test it and snap these, I'm excited to sit down and give it a proper try out this evening. I just paid for another MVS cart too so hopefully that will turn up shortly.

New arrivals: Mostly MVS

A few new additions from the last couple of weeks:

bubble bobble > jamma adapter
fight fever complete english art set
KOF 2002 cast, neo bomber man kit box, panic bomber kit box and art set, baseball stars 2 kit box and art set, metal slug 2 art set, 2020 super baseball art set
robo army cart, neo bomber man cart

I already had a complete neo bomber man art set so it's a full kit now I've cobbled it all together.

Withe these bits I now have 131 / 148 games and 103 / 133 mini marquees.

New arrivals: MVS, raizing, toaplan

I received a few new bits and bobs ove the last week or so. The breakers mini marquee means I have them for 101 of the 133 games that came with them. I also picked up a tiger heli pcb. It curently has no sound but two of the caps in the audio section were all but snapped off and dangling by one leg when I inspected it. I've bought replacements, hopefully once they've been soldered on it'll be fine. Finally, I had a dimahoo CPS2 B board arrive. It's a conversion but that doesn't bother me. I've really been looking forward to playing this!

New arrival: another U4

One cab in and one out today. The one to go was the hardest sale I've made, my first cab, the E2. I'll miss it. Taking its place is this MVS U4. I have it sitting facing my other one at the moment, I'd prefer having them side by side I guess like the pair of pony 3s but they won't really fit anywhere like that. It's in need of a good clean and there's a dent to the kickplate that needs sorting but other than that it's OK really. Couple of new buttons perhaps. It has a 4 slot in it at the moment but once the MVS > JAMMA adapter arrives it will be used as a horizontal JAMMA cab. I don't really need 2 MVS cabs but I like the look of pairs of cabs and the monitors in these things are awesome. I'll raid my spare mini marquees tomorrow and fill up the header.

Along with it I picked up the two red stools in the first photo and a couple of MVS carts with nice labels to exchange for two I had with really shoddy / missing labels.

New arrivals: SH3 bounty

I had a rather wonderful parcel arrive the other day. It really has been a crazy week for deliveries! In it were this fine pair of SH3 pcbs. I tried to snap a picture with both title screens up but I failed, they were slightly out of sync with each other. If they were on freeplay it'd probably be easier. They're mushihime-sama futari 1.5 on the left and pink sweets on the right: both games that were right near the top of my dwindling list of wanted games. I've played a fair bit of both the last couple of days. I predict they'll be hogging the ponys for a while even with all the other awesomeness which has turned up recently. This burst of buying and trading has given me enough to keep me playing for months and months.

New arrival: R Type Leo

I bought this on a bit of a whim really I guess. I'm really interested to play it and since it was never ported this is my only chance. The price was right so I decided to pick it up and give it a whirl. I'm not a massive fan of the series although I do enjoy the original, this apparently plays pretty differently both in terms of the way the little slave ships work and other gameplay elements. I'll be interested to see if it suits me better than R Type 2. I borrowed that on PCB for a while and though I enjoyed it I found it didn't have massive replayability for me. I liked reaching further through practice but found redoing the first level mega tedious after a while. That's not something I ever get with ibara or whatever, I find it endlessly replayable. Once the MVS > JAMMA adapter arrives I'll be able to play it and see what I reckon. If I don't get on with it I imagine I could probably trade it for one of the games left on my want list.

New arrivals: A little more toaplan goodness

Another day, another three toaplan pcbs. Having to let go of so many cabs because of the move has had its benefits; I've managed to snag some nice bits in trade and had the money to buy a few bits and pieces too. I'm really looking forward to playing zero wing and hellfire; I only have a U4 as a hori cab at the moment and that's obviously MVS wired rather than straight JAMMA. For now I could only test them on a vert cab but I have an MVS > JAMMA adapter in the post. Hopefully it'll turn up very soon! Dogyuun is pretty good fun, I need to spend a bit more time with it, so far I'm liking the graphics and music and stuff but I'm not sold ont he power up mechanic. We'll see.

New arrivals: Toaplan goodness

I had a couple of parcels of awesomeness delivered earlier this week. There were a couple of other pcbs I'll take pics of later but also this lovely trio of toaplan games; Out Zone, Fixeight and Truxton II. I'm sure these will get a ton of play, Out zone and Fixeight in particluar are great fun in two player. I was really happy to track down copies of these three, they don't pop up for sale all that often.

Who doesn't appreciate a nice, neat shelf?

Someone asked for a picture of the kits and carts I have, I've just moved house and reorganised stuff and this is as it is now. MVS stuff is on the left, bare carts above, kits and part kits below. At the bottom are some larger pcbs in bigger boxes, the boxes on the right in and on the cabinet are full of pcbs too.

New arrivals - MVS and a bit of seating

I got a couple of news bits and pieces in the post yesterday. The segoku 3 and samurai showdown V carts bring me to 128 of 148 carts in my collection now. The Super sidekicks 3 mini means I now have them for 100 of the 133 games that came with them.

I also got this rather snazzy two player Japanese bench. It's super comfortable, especially for someone as tall as me since it's a bit taller than a normal stool.

Doesn't time fly?

I've been mad busy for ages it seems like. I've picked up some new stuff since the last time I posted but I'm not sure what exactly. A dodonpachi pcb and a few move MVS games certainly. I'm 22 carts off the full MVS set now and I have a couple more on the way. I'm in the process of moving house, once I have all my carts and whatever sorted int he new place I'll put up a pic. Since I'm moving I've also had to shed a few cabs, sad as that is. Out the door have gone

the two candy 18s
astro
windy 2
aero city

I'm probably going to sell the E2 as well. It's a shame I won't have so much room. I'm still not exactly starved for cabs though. I have a pcb and some carts and art in the post. I'll get back on top of things and hopefully update regularly again.

New arrivals - A couple more carts

A couple more MVS carts turned up today, the ones on the left, art of fighting 2 and 3. I also picked up a bundle of empty cases with nice labels from ebay. The three on the right I'm going to swap with the cases I had on my copies because the labels are way nicer. I'll keep hold of the other 5 or 6 cases I got in the same lot. They'll probably come in handy sooner or later.

That's 122 / 148 MVS games.

Aero fix0red

Woo! I got the MS8 chassis fixed and reinstalled. It's lovely to have it running. I just need to paint the cp surround white and get a repro decal for it and that'll be this cab about done. The monitor is lovely. It's going to stay in hori.

New arrivals - Twin Cobra 2 and Mahjong

The other day I got this Twin Cobra 2 F3 cart in the post. It has some minor corruption to the title screen and during the bomb explosion but otherwise plays perfectly. It's not at all obtrusive and means I got it cheap. It's credited to Takumi but a lot of the programming was actually done inside Toaplan before they folded. A lot of staff who were working on it then finished it off under the Takumi name.

I also got Mahjong Kyuretsuden. That's 120 / 148 MVS games.

New arrivals - Raiden Fighters 2 + Nam 1975

Things have been a little slow here recently. Not much arriving. Life's been kind of stressful and money's a little tight so I haven't bought so much. I got this pair the other day though.

First up a raiden fighters 2 cart. I could do with another mobo recently since I don't much like the idea of swapping carts too often. I've been after one of these for a fair while. I now have all the seibu shooters on pcb. I think the full list goes like so:
scion
stinger
air raid
raiden
raiden 2
raiden dx
viper phase 1 (I just have the NV)
raiden fighters
raiden fighters 2
raiden fighters jet

I also had this NAM 1975 cart turn up. That brings me to 118 / 148 MVS games. I have a couple more en route too.

New arrivals - Another pair

Looks like I forgot to take a picture and now I've started writing I can't be arsed to go and get one. If I did have a photo it'd be a RBFFS and zed blade carts, english labels. That's 118 / 148 MVS games.

New arrivals - two more carts

I got this pair in today. Zupapa is a matching full kit. Two games I'm excited to play! In the parcel I also got a couple more carts with minty labels to upgrade some lower condition ones I already owned. I'll sell the lesser ones when I get a few minutes to list them. Life is a little hectic at the moment.

I now have 116 / 148 MVS games.

New arrivals - MVS goodness

Three parcels of neo geo goodness turned up over the last day or two. All together it's a pretty awesome haul.

Ninja master's - full English kit, matching serials (writing on the box lid sadly)
World Heroes Perfect - matching english cart and box with move strips (no mini, flyers or dips)
Karnov's Revenge - full english kit, matching serials
Samurai Showdown - full english kit, matching serials
KOF 2003 - full kit, matching serials
breakers revenge bare cart
galaxy fight bare cart.

The English NM kit is the jewel here. I actually picked it up in two chunks - a matching cart and box and the art set separately. It's generally talked about as the most expensive MVS kit I think.

I also got this art -
chibi marukochan deluxe quiz - complete art set with mini marquee
and minis for
ganryu
karnov's revenge
neo drift out
neo mr do
ninja master's
panic bomber
prehistoric isle 2
twinkle star sprites

Nearly all of this art is NOS. The karnov's and NM minis are from the kits. There are some really nice ones in this bunch.

Some of these pieces upgraded bare carts or faded minis. With the addition of this bunch I now have 114 / 148 MVS games and minis for 98 / 133 games that came with them.

New arrival - Sega Aero City

I certainly didn't need another cab but I couldn't resist. This is my limit though. No more. I love aeros. Angles, metal body, 26" monitor, built like a tank, nice side art. They are fantastic cabs. I've been looking for one for ages but this is the first that hasn't been instantly hoovered up by one or another of my friends.

It's in nice shape but needs a little work. The cp surround needs to be painted white and I'll get hold of a repro sticker for it. I also need to get the monitor repaired or pick up a new one since it's currenly dead. I'm hoping I'll be able to find one soon. I'm really happy to have got hold of it. It'll be my hori cab I think.
