New arrival: another U4

One cab in and one out today. The one to go was the hardest sale I've made, my first cab, the E2. I'll miss it. Taking its place is this MVS U4. I have it sitting facing my other one at the moment, I'd prefer having them side by side I guess like the pair of pony 3s but they won't really fit anywhere like that. It's in need of a good clean and there's a dent to the kickplate that needs sorting but other than that it's OK really. Couple of new buttons perhaps. It has a 4 slot in it at the moment but once the MVS > JAMMA adapter arrives it will be used as a horizontal JAMMA cab. I don't really need 2 MVS cabs but I like the look of pairs of cabs and the monitors in these things are awesome. I'll raid my spare mini marquees tomorrow and fill up the header.

Along with it I picked up the two red stools in the first photo and a couple of MVS carts with nice labels to exchange for two I had with really shoddy / missing labels.

New arrivals: SH3 bounty

I had a rather wonderful parcel arrive the other day. It really has been a crazy week for deliveries! In it were this fine pair of SH3 pcbs. I tried to snap a picture with both title screens up but I failed, they were slightly out of sync with each other. If they were on freeplay it'd probably be easier. They're mushihime-sama futari 1.5 on the left and pink sweets on the right: both games that were right near the top of my dwindling list of wanted games. I've played a fair bit of both the last couple of days. I predict they'll be hogging the ponys for a while even with all the other awesomeness which has turned up recently. This burst of buying and trading has given me enough to keep me playing for months and months.

New arrival: R Type Leo

I bought this on a bit of a whim really I guess. I'm really interested to play it and since it was never ported this is my only chance. The price was right so I decided to pick it up and give it a whirl. I'm not a massive fan of the series although I do enjoy the original, this apparently plays pretty differently both in terms of the way the little slave ships work and other gameplay elements. I'll be interested to see if it suits me better than R Type 2. I borrowed that on PCB for a while and though I enjoyed it I found it didn't have massive replayability for me. I liked reaching further through practice but found redoing the first level mega tedious after a while. That's not something I ever get with ibara or whatever, I find it endlessly replayable. Once the MVS > JAMMA adapter arrives I'll be able to play it and see what I reckon. If I don't get on with it I imagine I could probably trade it for one of the games left on my want list.

New arrivals: A little more toaplan goodness

Another day, another three toaplan pcbs. Having to let go of so many cabs because of the move has had its benefits; I've managed to snag some nice bits in trade and had the money to buy a few bits and pieces too. I'm really looking forward to playing zero wing and hellfire; I only have a U4 as a hori cab at the moment and that's obviously MVS wired rather than straight JAMMA. For now I could only test them on a vert cab but I have an MVS > JAMMA adapter in the post. Hopefully it'll turn up very soon! Dogyuun is pretty good fun, I need to spend a bit more time with it, so far I'm liking the graphics and music and stuff but I'm not sold ont he power up mechanic. We'll see.

New arrivals: Toaplan goodness

I had a couple of parcels of awesomeness delivered earlier this week. There were a couple of other pcbs I'll take pics of later but also this lovely trio of toaplan games; Out Zone, Fixeight and Truxton II. I'm sure these will get a ton of play, Out zone and Fixeight in particluar are great fun in two player. I was really happy to track down copies of these three, they don't pop up for sale all that often.

Who doesn't appreciate a nice, neat shelf?

Someone asked for a picture of the kits and carts I have, I've just moved house and reorganised stuff and this is as it is now. MVS stuff is on the left, bare carts above, kits and part kits below. At the bottom are some larger pcbs in bigger boxes, the boxes on the right in and on the cabinet are full of pcbs too.

New arrivals - MVS and a bit of seating

I got a couple of news bits and pieces in the post yesterday. The segoku 3 and samurai showdown V carts bring me to 128 of 148 carts in my collection now. The Super sidekicks 3 mini means I now have them for 100 of the 133 games that came with them.

I also got this rather snazzy two player Japanese bench. It's super comfortable, especially for someone as tall as me since it's a bit taller than a normal stool.

Doesn't time fly?

I've been mad busy for ages it seems like. I've picked up some new stuff since the last time I posted but I'm not sure what exactly. A dodonpachi pcb and a few move MVS games certainly. I'm 22 carts off the full MVS set now and I have a couple more on the way. I'm in the process of moving house, once I have all my carts and whatever sorted int he new place I'll put up a pic. Since I'm moving I've also had to shed a few cabs, sad as that is. Out the door have gone

the two candy 18s
astro
windy 2
aero city

I'm probably going to sell the E2 as well. It's a shame I won't have so much room. I'm still not exactly starved for cabs though. I have a pcb and some carts and art in the post. I'll get back on top of things and hopefully update regularly again.
